It rained last night, my shoes are soaked, the tree is wet and cold.

I forgot to look at the clock but I think it’s very early because it’s really dark out here and my stomach wants me to go back to bed right this minute. I don’t think my stomach is going to like it when I climb up to that high branch.

Tana never climbed any higher up so I don’t know how to do it. The high branch bends a little when I pull on it but I keep pulling until I can get my feet up on the low branch, I keep pulling until I’m squatting like a frog in the tree. Please don’t let me fall, please don’t let me fall. Then I straighten my legs a little bit and a little bit more until I’m standing.

I can almost see all of the grass in front of the rabbit cages. I’m so high up I think I’m going to be sick. My legs shake when I swing one of them over the high branch. My arms shake when I hop off the low branch and pull myself up. Please don’t let me fall, please don’t let me fall.

I’m up on the high branch! I can see everything! I can see the cages! I can see all of them! But it doesn’t feel right, it’s way too bendy, it doesn’t feel right at all. Please don’t let me fall, please don’t let me fall.

All I have to do is get to the end of the branch and jump down into Mr. Gullick’s yard, but the more I scoot the more the branch bends. Please don’t let me fall, please don’t let me fall. Please don’t let me fall, please don’t let me fall. I say it two more times and two more times and two more times and two more times. And then I fall.
