A Note from Mary

First and most importantly, a huge, giant, enormous thank you to Kari Sanderfer (and Kiera Sanderfer!) for answering all of my questions about living with Angelman Syndrome. Also my friend and writer extraordinaire, Dr. Diely Pichardo-Johansson, for making sure I got everything right! And also listening to me ramble on and on about random nonsense on a daily basis. HAHA!

You are amazing humans, and I’m so happy to know you.

A portion of the proceeds from this book will be going to FAST, Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics. If you have the means, please donate!

Also everyone HAS TO WATCH THIS VIDEO and cry with me about how sweet these two brothers are (this is where I got the idea to make Ava and Emma twins :D). All the feels, all the feels.

When I first decided (over a year ago, while writing Picture Imperfect) to give Scarlett a food truck I HAD NO IDEA how hard it is to ACTUALLY run a food truck in New York City. My research led me down a rabbit hole of information (some of which is in this book) about black market permits, insane costs, and the daily struggle to get a parking spot. I spared some of it for the sake of fiction, but sheesh. Give your local food truck owners a high-five (without actually touching them and from at least 6 feet away)!

Speaking of NYC, as I reached “The End” of this book, the pandemic sweeping the country had taken a firm hold in New York City. I have family on Long Island and used to spend my summers in Plainview as a child. My heart literally aches for everyone suffering from this terrible, surreal, totally bizarre time we are living in. I hope you are all staying safe and healthy!

Coming up next in Mary’s booklandia, I am outlining a possible story for Beast (from the Dorky Duet series! I have heard from many of you wanting Beast to get his book!) and his love interest--Fred from this book Hopefully will be released this fall! (Updated 10/24/2020: this book is releasing 10/30/2020 now and you can check it out by clicking here!) Also, there may be ONE MORE Imperfect book in the future. For Oliver the billionaire. Billionaire romances are way outside my wheelhouse. To do it my way, I will have to think of something good and different so it’s not like all the other billions of billionaire romance novels.
