Wild Rice & Mushrooms

Serves 10 to 12

10-1/2 oz. can beef consommé

10-1/2 oz. can French onion soup

2-1/4 c. water

1/2 c. butter, melted

13-1/4 oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained

1 c. wild rice, uncooked

1 c. long-cooking brown rice, uncooked

Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker; stir well. Cover and cook on low setting for 7 to 8 hours, until rice is tender.

Fresh mushrooms of all kinds add earthy flavor to rice and pasta dishes. When purchasing them, look for smooth dry caps without cracks. Wash them immediately before using them but not ahead of time.
