Ianua: The community responsible for maintaining the intellectual evolution of the human race
The Fury: The community opposing the Ianua; they campaign for a life based purely on personal gain. The Fury are always looking to recruit new meat from the Ianua or from the Simple.
Simple: Everyday humans that are not involved with either the Ianua or The Fury
Cura: The 13 individual groups that form the Ianua community.
Addo: The wise leaders of each Cura.
Alo: The scribes of the Ianua, they record the memories of the dead so their knowledge is accessible on Earth
Contego: The warriors of the Ianua, responsible for supporting the Alo and protecting the community
Veritas: The stabilizers of the human race. Their prayers keep the world in balance.
Procella: The Contego’s top ranking. Each Cura has its own Procella and one Lead, who organizes all the warriors.
Emen: Mostly known as the Ianua’s cleaning crew, the Emen are in charge of retrieving items for the Ianua, including the dead.
Field/Bubble: The invisible field of energy which surrounds all human beings. The Contego and Emen have various methods of using the field which they employ for fighting, shielding, and protecting.
Cavis: Often referred to as a weakness in a Contego Warrior’s field, but all humans have fields with weaknesses in them. Cavises range in severity from something like a bruise to being lethal if breached.
Vieo: A committed love interest from an Ianua member. Once an individual declares him or herself as a Vieo, they are not free to pursue any other interests, until the first either accepts or denies them. If denied, the possibility of a relationship is not revisited.
Binding: A ceremony of the Ianua in which two Vieos are bound wrist-to-wrist with a rope for a period of time, designated by the Addo. The couple can terminate the relationship by cutting the binding or, at the end of the period, enjoy a Mandare (wedding ceremony) in which their union is considered established.
Cusp: Periods within the Earth and human’s history in which huge shifts take place. A Cusp can be beneficial or destructive, depending on the forces which are at work in the world at that time.
Totus: A meeting of either the Cura, several Cura’s Procella, or whole Curas.
Indicium: Annual meetings of the Addos, used to exchange info and update one another on each Cura.
Quantus: A computerized educational system, briefly used by Simon Valley High, where Nalena and Garrett attended school.
Terra Rota: The process of returning dead bodies to the Earth most efficiently.
Tralate: An ability to receive textual messages of warning from any physical writing in an atmosphere, such as from signs, books, graffiti.
Project: The ability to relay thoughts telepathically to another human being.
Celare: The hotel built as a fortress for the Ianua, in times which threaten the community’s survival.
Manga Leaf: A plant the Veritas often grown in their homes. The extract blocks human thoughts from passing through it. However, consuming this plant can prove lethal.
Desino Leaf: A plant with the ability to allow for telepathic projection between any individuals who have consumed the same leaf.
Abiego Berry: A tiny fruit with the ability to entirely block the sense of smell.
