Mountain Wolf Woman’s Time Line

                    1874

In the winter, Mountain Wolf Woman’s family is moved to Nebraska by the U.S. government, where they stay until spring. They return to Wisconsin by traveling down the Missouri River and then back up the Mississippi River.

1884

Mountain Wolf Woman is born in April.

1893–1895

At 9 years old, Mountain Wolf Woman goes to school for the first time at the Tomah Indian Industrial School. She goes to the school for only 2 years.

1897–1898

Mountain Wolf Woman is 13 when she returns to school and attends the Lutheran Mission School in Wittenberg.

1958

Mountain Wolf Woman visits her adopted niece, anthropologist Nancy Lurie, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She tells Nancy Lurie about what her life was like as a Ho-Chunk girl.

1960

  —  

Mountain Wolf Woman dies at age 76.
