CHAPTER 28
Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. The figure repeated kneeling in front of a large effigy of Christ carved in hardwood, hanging from the wall. But despite the message’s sentiment, the words wouldn’t go in. Instead, they were replaced with Deuteronomy 32:35
"It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them."
The figure folded the old leather-bound book and placed it on the altar below Christ.
The sacrifice the police had removed days earlier had appeased the demons, but they would return, until the Lord’s work was done, the cruel and unjust need silencing, but time was running out. It was the time to act decisively.
Lifting the book, the figure slipped it into a coat pocket, stood, and stealthily left the abandoned church under cover of darkness.
