12.5    High Performance

Since launching SAP HANA, SAP has been fully committed to pushing down application-related operations and calculations to the database. This push-down concept is at the core of SAP BW/4HANA. Main OLAP, planning, and application functions are already being executed at the database level.

The currently released SAP BW/4HANA roadmap indicates the following push-down deliverables in the near future:

• Q2 2017:
  • Data load management: Enabling of parallel load of master data
  • OLAP functions: Exception aggregation, including currency and unit conversion
• Q4 2017 and beyond:
  • OLAP functions: Top-N/Bottom-N analysis, used during sorting at query level
  • OLAP functions: Stock coverage, used on inventory prediction analysis
  • OLAP functions: Current member variables, making use of replacement path operators.
