Pear and Ricotta Crostini with Walnuts and Honey

If you’re having guests over or hosting a party, crostini are great appetizers to serve that don’t take a lot of time to prepare or cook. These are topped with spiralized pear and ricotta, and then drizzled with walnuts and honey for a little extra sweetness. This recipe includes instructions on how to make your own crostini, but if you are pressed for time, you can also use premade crostini or any small pieces of bread or crackers instead. Stick the finished crostini in the oven at 400°F for just a few minutes to serve them warm.

Serves 6 (makes 24 crostini)

1 baguette

4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

1 pear

12 cup ricotta cheese

2 tablespoons wild honey

14 cup finely chopped walnuts

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice baguette crosswise into 14"–12" slices. Brush both sides of bread with olive oil and place on a baking sheet. Bake for about 8 minutes on one side and then flip. Bake for another 4–7 minutes or until slightly golden.
  2. While crostini are in the oven, spiralize pear using the straight-noodle blade so the pear comes out as ribbons or wedges. Place into a bowl and set aside.
  3. When crostini are done baking, let cool for a few minutes. Then spread ricotta evenly onto one side of each piece. Top with a slice of pear on each.
  4. Drizzle honey evenly over crostini and top with chopped walnuts.
