WE SAW OUR POETRY FLOWINGÂ
like sea water into a river, like
ground water to the soil, but
we expected too much from it
We expected our poetry to make people better
to change the world
to make us more relaxed
to bring men closer to god
to make our wives prettier
to save us from death
we expected from poetry, and rightfully
from what should we expect
beside from words.
