* Normally in regular table sugar, glucose and fructose molecules are joined together in a chemical bond and are not “free.” In high-fructose corn syrup all the fructose is “free” and acts very differently in the body, causing more damage.
* The tests for measuring metals are controversial. Most doctors just look at blood levels, but that only indicates recent exposure, usually from eating fish like tuna with high levels of mercury. Hair analysis tells you only about mercury exposure from eating fish and goes back a few months. A random urine test will only show if you have current ongoing exposures from something in your environment or workplace. That is why we do a challenge test with a chelating agent that binds to mercury in the blood and tissues and pulls it out and dumps it in the urine. That gives a better idea of total body burden of metals.
