(A Message From The Cartel’s Pep Squad Captain)

Hey Everyone!

Have you ever been a part of something so great that it almost seems unreal?

Well that’s the thought that comes to mind when I think about being the Captain of The Cartel Pep Squad. Just to be able to be involved in such a progressive movement is such a good feeling. It also feels great to be connected with some of the hardest working women I know…T. Styles, Charisse Washington, J.C. Russell and the Pep Squad members. These ladies work so hard week, after week to make sure the Cartel is always shining and believe me it’s not an easy task. Everyone on the entire Squad possesses the same kind of qualities that mesh us together as a family.

There are some very key characteristics that are required to even be a part of the Squad. You have to be dedicated, persistent, passionate, creative, and most of all you have to be a hustler. Bein’ down for the Pep Squad requires true dedication meaning you’re doin’ what you can to spread the news about the Cartel regardless of what’s going on in your personal life. You have to be persistent in everything you do because you’ll never get anything done otherwise. Reppin’ for the Squad requires for you to be passionate about the things the Cartel is doin’ because if you’re not passionate about it then who else will? You have to possess creativity to be down with the Squad. You have to find new and unique ways of spreading the word and you have to be able to pull some ideas from your creative side.

I think the most important characteristic that you must possess is that of bein’ a hustler. Your mouthpiece must be continually turned on and you must take every opportunity and chance to promote the Cartel. Even when you don’t feel like it, there’s always somethin’ you can do…cuz closed mouths definitely don’t sell books.

It’s crazy because those very same characteristics have come into play in my own life. I’m trying to make my mark in this lit game and if you’re reading this and you’re already in this game then you know it’s not easy. In fact, it’s extremely hard and let me tell you it is not for the weak. You have to be able to work hard and not fall and crack under pressure and that’s also what being successful is all about. You have to be able to multitask and still maintain.

If you aren’t able to get anything else from what I’m sayin’ then I want you to get this…don’t let anything stop you from achieving your dreams. Even if you feel that you are far off from achieving your goals, don’t give up. Just take each day one day at a time and make moves toward your set goal. Don’t be fooled. Success won’t just come to you, you gotta be proactive and do what you gotta do and move toward it. The little steps that you take day by day will land you on the road to your success. The important thing is to take the first step.

Now, as always we must pay homage to an author we respect for his/her grind and literary journey. So it is with great respect that we pay tribute to:

Miasha

There are many things The Cartel loves about Miasha. For starters, her novels Diary of A Mistress, Mommy’s Angel, Secret Society and Sistah for Sale are sure fire hits! But also, her grind is impeccable. Miasha embodies beauty, brains and talent and we love what she does.

Next it’s time to rep our Squad members,

Jessica aka ”Lyric” (Squad Captain), Ms. Toya Daniels, Erica

Last but certainly not least, we want to give a shout out to our Street Team! They’re growing and we appreciate everything they do.
