Being an international business centre, Shenzhen has a wide range of restaurants. Regional Chinese cuisines are well represented and there are many options in all price ranges, from cheap canteens and street food to upmarket hotel restaurants. The downtown area around Jianshe/Shennan Lu and Heping Lu is well supplied, as is Lo Wu (Luohu). Futian district’s shopping area further west has plenty more, and also numerous bars.

One of a chain of semi-outdoor barbecue joints owned by Mark Ndesandjo, half-brother to the 44th US President, Barack Obama. Once you’ve got your head round this, enjoy the plentiful Asian-style barbecue.
