God Is Dead; Long Live Goding

The great task of the holy rascal is to free the mind from nouns and for gerunds. One way we do this is to be the child who admits the obvious, the emperor has no clothes, and in so doing to deNOUNce God, to de-thing the Holy It, and to defang the religions that support It.

God isn’t a thing or a being or even the Supreme Being. God is being itself. God is the Happening that is happening as all happening. God is process. God is Goding. God isn’t the river (as Heraclitus taught us, even the river isn’t the river!) but the flowing. The happening we call “river” is in fact Goding rivering.

There are no nouns, only gerunds: only Goding, treeing, elephanting, womaning, maning, naturing, youing, and Iing.

When playing with religious ideas, rituals, and symbols, our goal is to reclaim the immediacy of the event toward which they point. No more secondhand God.   RR
