Religious Dis-Eases Are Iatrogenic
The word iatrogenic comes from the Greek: iatros, meaning “doctor or healer,” and gennen, meaning “as a result of.” A physical, mental, or emotional problem is iatrogenic if caused by a doctor.
The difference between something that is medically iatrogenic and something that is religiously iatrogenic is that the former is inadvertent, while the latter is deliberate. Hinduism makes ignorance a dis-ease, Judaism makes exile a dis-ease, Buddhism makes craving a dis-ease, Christianity makes sin a dis-ease, and Islam makes pride a dis-ease. And they do so in order to then offer you the cure to the dis-ease they created.
The mystery of life isn’t a problem to be solved, but a reality to experience.
