Acceptance
Accept whatever comes your way. Don’t resist, don’t avoid, don’t ignore—just accept what is and move on to what is next.
Don’t buy into the notion that you can or should control your own reality. Given the interdependence of all events, for you to control your reality, you must also control everyone else’s reality, and if you even entertain such an idea, you are trapped in the hyperinflation of self, a narcissistic world view that leaves you feeling victimized by reality even as you imagine yourself in charge of reality.
You can’t change what is, since it already is what is. But you can impact what is next by what you do with what is.
While some people like to say, “I create my own reality,” what they’re really saying is, “I can’t stand reality, so I’ll take refuge in my own fantasy.” This is good news for those selling books, CDs, and workshops on how to create your own reality, but bad news for those who are spending serious money buying them.
