Theme gardening is a creative way of designing a garden so that everything in it is related to the chosen theme. You’ve seen this type of garden when you look at a vegetable garden: every plant in it grows vegetables. You can decide any kind of theme: a color, a type of plant, a geographical location, plants with weird names—anything! In addition to the specific themes we’ll show you in this book, here are just a few ideas of other types of theme gardens you could try. Can you think of others?
Shade garden (plants that only grow in the shade)
Yellow garden (every plant has yellow leaves or flowers)
“D” garden (every plant begins with the letter D)
Kitchen garden (all plants are used in cooking)
Magical garden (all plants were once thought to have magical qualities—doesn’t that sound fun?)
