Acknowledgments

Although most novels are birthed by individual authors, it takes a village to raise them into what you finally enjoy. Tab’s Terrible Third Eye is the result of more than a year of drafts followed by weeks of beta reading, new drafts, more weeks of professional editing, and discussions with people who know things. Although I’ll be the one who ends up getting the accolades (and admonishments) for this novel, what follows is a list of folks to whom I am indebted for their contributions during its development.

First up is my editor, Megan Harris. This is the second novel of mine she’s tackled. She’s a pro with an eye for detail and an ability to catch mistakes in both my grammar and my research. If you found any mistakes or awkwardness in this novel, you can be sure it is a result of my overriding her suggestions.

Next is Paula Rozelle Hanback, who illustrated and designed the cover for this novel as well as most of my previous work. She also provided the custom font that I used for the title, drop caps, chapter headings, and more. I loved the font so much that I ended up replacing the headings font on isaacthorne.com with it.

Third up is voice actor Tom Force, who narrated the audiobook edition of Tab's Terrible Third Eye. For the first time in the history of my work, an audiobook edition is being released at nearly the same time as the print and ebook editions. Tom’s hypnotic performance brought Tab and all the other characters to life in a way that I could have only dreamt about.

Last but not least is the long list of beta readers who volunteered their time and energy to pore over one of this book’s early drafts. More than forty people signed up for my beta readers list to be notified when new work is available. Of those, thirteen provided feedback. You’ll find their influence most specifically in Tab’s dialogue and behavior, Sandra’s backstory, Jeremy’s relationship with Tab, and Roy’s menace. With gratitude, those beta readers are: Julie Beck, the poet Richard Bell, Janel Bernotas, Vickie Cox, Ashley Doran-Roth, Kate Forsman, Nicole Haugen, Kary Irle, Amanda Johns, Audrey Marmol, Edward Massey, Jim Phoenix, Stephanie Silvestri, and Lisa Westenbarger.

I made notes, relied on memory, and traveled back in email time to compile these names. If I have neglected to mention anyone, it is not intentional. Finally, I want to express my gratitude to you, dear reader, for picking up this novel and giving it a chance. Thank you.
