PINK FLOYD

Pink Floyd went through what has been described as perhaps the greatest feud in rock and roll history. At the heart of the feud was the band’s two main forces, Roger Waters and David Gilmour. It has been stated many times that the band as a whole was not on speaking terms, but most stories seem to indicate Waters was on one side of the feud, and the rest of the band, led by Gilmour, was on the other. There are many theories as to the genesis of the feud, from creative differences to a clash of egos to a philosophical and musical gap. What you are about to read is a transcription of a conversation that took place at perhaps the height of the feud. Waters and Gilmour had gotten to the point where they literally weren’t speaking to each other. This was recorded on November 14, 1979, during the recording sessions for their legendary rock opera The Wall. Tapes kept rolling in between takes of “Another Brick in the Wall (Part II).” For reference, band members are: Roger Waters (bass), David Gilmour (guitar), Nick Mason (drums), and Richard Wright (keyboards). Rick is the studio’s sound engineer.
