Makes about ½ cup
Here’s the formulation of my favorite homemade rim mixture. It will only take a few minutes. It’s a riff on Old Bay made from ingredients most of us have around.
¼ cup kosher salt
2 tablespoons sweet Spanish smoked paprika (pimentón de la vera dulce)
2 tablespoons granulated garlic
1 tablespoon coarsely ground black pepper
2 teaspoons celery seeds
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Combine the salt, paprika, garlic, pepper, celery seed, and thyme in a container with a tight-fitting lid and shake well. Store in a dark, cool place for up to 4 months.
