Black salt

INGREDIENTS Table salt | Dried eggshells (remove the white membrane layer) | Ashes (collected from incense or past spells) and/or charcoal | 1 tsp rosemary | 1 tsp black pepper

Salt is considered protective as it disperses negative energy. You can create your own black salt for extra protective and banishing properties to sprinkle on doorways and windowsills, draw sigils, or use in spells such as this.

Grind together the salt, eggshells, ashes and/or charcoal, rosemary, and black pepper, grinding counterclockwise, to banish. At this point you could also add in any other herbs associated with protection, for example, garden sage or lavender (see Elements and cardinal directions and Herbs and plants for correspondences). Once finely ground, store your salt in a jar or bottle. Sprinkle this salt around your house and sweep it away every New Moon to renew it. Sweep from east to west, like the journey of the sun. When using, speak with intent of what you wish to achieve—let the words come to you intuitively, or say:

I cleanse this space and banish all evil and harm sent my way, so mote it be.
