Anti-anxiety spell jar

TOOLS Incense to cleanse | Lighter or matches | Small glass jar | Small funnel | Purple chime candle (alternatively hot glue gun with purple hot glue) | Pen

INGREDIENTS 1 tsp dried lavender | 1 tsp dried chamomile | 1 tsp dried jasmine | 1 Blue Lace Agate crystal | 1 bay leaf

This spell jar is perfect to assist with managing anxiety, though of course this does not replace professional attention. Keep it near you in a bag, or next to your bed. Spell jars contain and radiate energy—this one is intended to dissipate the anxious energy within and around you, and spread calming energy.

Start by cleansing your glass jar with incense—lavender is a good choice. Layer in the dried lavender, chamomile, jasmine, and the Blue Lace Agate crystal. Now write the word “serenity” on your bay leaf and add it to the jar. Close the jar, sealing it by dripping candle wax around the lid (or use the hot glue gun).

Keep this jar safe, for example on your altar. Shake every so often to activate its energies, and meditate holding it, each time feeling the anxiety easing, filling you with peace.

Blues-banishing ritual

TOOLS A bucket of water | 2 pieces of white natural felt or cotton (about 4x4 in/10x10 cm) | Marker | Thread and needle | Scissors | Funnel | Mortar and pestle | Cauldron | Lighter or matches

INGREDIENTS 1 tsp salt | 1 tsp eggshells | 1 tsp dried lavender | 1 tsp dried rosemary

This spell is intended for when you feel low. For this spell you will make a doll—a tool that has been used in various cultures throughout history. It is a form of sympathetic magick, and, as with all magick, can be whatever the practitioner makes of it.

Start by casting a circle, grounding and centering, and cleansing your altar space and tools. Set the water next to your altar, as a fire safety precaution.

Take and align the felt pieces, draw an approximate human shape, and cut it out. Ensure you draw it roughly ½ in (1 cm) bigger than you want the doll to be to allow space for the stitching. Take the thread and needle and make your first stitch. Focus on the intention of uplifting your emotions, and banishing the negative. Stitch around 80 percent of the doll to leave an opening for stuffing with the herbs.

With the mortar and pestle, grind together the salt, eggshells, lavender, and rosemary. Fill the doll with the mix and sew shut, saying:

I banish all negative, depressive thoughts and memories, I banish maleficent energies surrounding me. May I feel the release of these, may positive energy come to me, and help me on my healing journey, so mote it be.

Now take the doll you have made and burn it in your cauldron. Visualize any negative or depressive thoughts leaving the doll and subsequently leaving you. As the herbs burn, positive energy is released surrounding you. When finished, open the circle, and throw the ashes of the doll to the wind for a final release.
