FOREWORD

I was raised in a (mostly) German family of people who practice and believe in magick—be that simple rituals such as tarot readings and communing with passed loved ones via pendulums, to being surrounded by crystals and having my palm read by my Oma. I was given Teen Witch by Silver Ravenwolf at the age of 11, which is where my dedicated practice of witchcraft started. Yet the biggest shift and growth in my path has been in the last several years—at the beginning of 2016, I started to truly become the witch I am today. My path has changed over the years, depending on which country we lived in, what influences were around me, and the availability of information at the time, and I am certain it will continue to shift and grow in the future. What always stayed constant was my admiration and deep love for magick and nature.

My goal with this book is to make the practice of magick accessible and approachable. Too often I have talked with people who are simply not sure how to get started, or are even intimidated by spells and rituals. I wanted to give you a brief introduction to what magick is, what spells are, how to protect yourself, and how to integrate magick into your daily life. In my opinion, life is full of magick, we just need to shift our mindset slightly to find it hidden in plain sight.

Spells and rituals do not need to be intimidating, and they should not be filled with ingredients that you need to spend a fortune on. For that reason, while I discuss some foundational components within this book, such as an altar and common tools, they are not obligatory. I want you to use this book to assist you in your own path. Take the parts you resonate with and leave the rest; change things up, make it your own. What works for me may not for you—for example, my personal path is very much influenced by traditional Wicca—something you may not chime with.

Your path may start with this book, which for me is one of the biggest honors, or perhaps you just want to add to your collection of books and this one looked interesting, which is also an honor! I encourage you to keep on searching for knowledge throughout your life. Wherever you are in your practice, may this book help you get started or assist you in moving forward, or simply inspire you in your craft.
