A NOTE ON THE EDITOR

Thomas Gaiton Marullo is associate professor of Russian and Russian Literature at the University of Notre Dame. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up on Long Island. He received a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University, and has held fellowships from the Lilly Endowment and the National Endowment for the Humanities. The first two volumes of his re-creation of Ivan Bunin’s life through letters, diaries, and fiction, titled Ivan Bunin: Russian Requiem, 1885–1920, and Ivan Bunin: From the Other Shore, 1920–1933, have been widely acclaimed. His study of Bunin’s fiction, If You See the Buddha, is forthcoming.
