Being put on hold on the phone can bring up all kinds of thoughts and emotions: we may be frustrated at the waste of time, we may perceive it as an insult, we may find the music annoying, and so on.
However, if we can change the way we perceive this, we can reduce the negative stress it places on the body. Instead of “waiting” on hold, can we simply “be” on hold?
Why not regard such moments as an opportunity to be with ourselves—a few minutes taken out from work or home life that offer us the chance to tune in to the body and the breath, and allow us just to be… to be here right now.
