The Injustice of Colin Campbell Ross: A Century Too Late
Colin Campbell Ross was charged with the murder of 12-year-old Alma Tirtschke in 1922. He was hanged but widely believed to be innocent. Efforts were made to clear his name and finally, in 2008, he was pardoned by the Governor of Victoria. Alma Tirtschke is pictured (left) with her grandmother and sister in about 1916. Gun Alley, below, off Melbourne’s Little Collins Street, is where her body was found in 1921.
