PETE SEEGER ARRIVES IN PRAGUE TO BEGIN CONCERT TOUR IN EASTERN EUROPE

Pete Seeger continued his eleven month world-wide concert tour in Eastern Europe as he arrived in Prague, Czechoslovakia, on March 18th. He will spend seven days in Czechoslovakia for concerts and television under the auspices of the Czechoslovakia Concert and Theatre Agency.

From Czechoslovakia, the Seeger family go to Warsaw, Poland, for a six day tour of Poland, and then, on April 6th, arrive in the Soviet Union for an extended one month tour sponsored by Gosconcert Organization.

PETE SEEGER COMPLETES SUCCESSFUL ENGAGEMENTS IN ENGLAND, NETHERLANDS AND DENMARK

After a very highly successful tour in Israel at the end of January, Seeger came to England for a ten day stay. Two concerts were given during this tour. In Manchester at the Free Trade Hall, a packed auditorium acclaimed Pete’s performance. Bus loads of folk music enthusiasts drove to Manchester from Scotland and Liverpool to attend the concert. On Sunday, February 23rd, Pete was the guest star on the famous “Sunday Night at the Palladium” television show. This TV show, similar to the American Ed Sullivan Show, is the most popular entertainment show in Great Britain. Pete’s success on the show prompted a return request for another appearance at a later date.

On Saturday, February 29th, Pete gave a concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Tickets were sold out three weeks in advance, and 3,250 people greeted Pete with a resounding ovation. He concluded his short stay in England with a special half-hour television show of his own for the BBC-TV Network.

On March 2nd, the Seeger family arrived in Amsterdam, Holland. In Holland, Pete appeared on television and gave a concert at Leyden University.

From Holland, Seeger went to Denmark for television appearances and for a concert sponsored by college folk music clubs in Copenhagen. On March 18th, the Seeger family left Copenhagen for Prague.
