I took certain liberties in the time period for the waltz to better suit my story. It became fashionable in Vienna in 1780, but not in England until the Regency period when it was endorsed by Dorothea Lieven, wife of the Russian ambassador. However, to work with my story, I have Spencer and Miranda dancing the waltz in 1806. Any other historical inaccuracies are done on purpose to suit the book.
I hope you enjoy the story!
Summary
Mr. Stuart Spencer has had the misfortune to fall in love with two women. Neither of whom he had the privilege of marrying. Lady Isabella Seabrook wed another. Lady Miranda Carlton vanished from London Society. Twelve years ago when Lady Miranda’s father refused Spencer’s marriage proposal was one of the darkest days of his life. Something he never recovered from. The hurt and anger has followed him for years. When he comes face to face with Miranda again, dare he believe they can travel back in time and pick up where they left off?
Lady Miranda fell in love with Mr. Stuart Spencer at the tender age of seventeen. The day she expected his offer of marriage came and went. A tragedy had befallen his family. When the mourning period ended she waited for his arrival, but it never came. Broken hearted, her family penniless and disgraced, they retired to the country. Twelve years later, her parents gone, Miranda in desperate need of coin, ventures to London seeking a husband. To her surprise and delight she finds Spencer, single, handsome and infuriating as ever. Can she risk her heart on him a second time? But more importantly, can she be a wife in the true sense of the word after what transpired only months ago? Something so heinous and shameful it plagues her every waking moment.
