HOW TO BUILD A SNOW CAVE

1 Find a large snowdrift or snow bank on a slope.

Plan your cave with the opening at a right angle to the prevailing wind.

2 Dig a narrow tunnel into the slope (toward the back of the slope) and slightly upward.

3 Make the ceiling slightly domeshaped.

4 Put a small vent hole in the roof.
