  • plastic funnel
  • cardboard tube from a paper towel roll
  • duct tape

Try This

  1. Place the cardboard tube over the smaller end of the funnel and tape it securely in place.
  2. Place the funnel over a willing volunteer's chest. What do you hear?

What's Going On?

You heard your heart pumping blood with this model of a stethoscope. A stethoscope is a device that captures sound waves and channels them down a tube directly into your ear so you can better hear sounds of the body. Your heart beats more than 100 000 times in a single day!
