47: CALMS ANGER

In 2018, one in fifty-nine children in the United States were diagnosed with autism, a common neurocognitive disorder persisting into adulthood that results in disordered communication and behaviors, including outbursts of rage. A 2019 study published in the journal Molecular Autism found children with autism have lowered blood levels of several endocannabinoids, including anandamide. These alterations in the endocannabinoid system suggest that supplementation with CBD oil can help rebalance the brain of patients with autism, as CBD increases levels of the endocannabinoid anandamide, which bind to CB1 and CB2 receptors. CBD oil also modulates the activity of serotonin, dopamine, glutamate, and GABA receptors, repairing altered brain chemistry in autism. By activating serotonin receptors, CBD can relieve anxiety, calming rage, preventing self-harm, and promoting sleep.

Of course, irritability and rage aren’t linked to just autism. They can also be symptoms of certain personality disorders, mental health conditions including bipolar disorder, and simply the stress of everyday life. Whether or not you have an official diagnosis, using 10−20 milligrams of CBD oil under the tongue can help you stay calm despite the frustrations of the day.

TAKE CARE

While most patients see reduction in rage when using CBD oil, a small percentage of patients do worse. Talk to your doctor before using CBD oil if you have been diagnosed with autism or any other serious condition.
