As the name suggests, we can use this setting to share updates with our Dynamics 365 CE users. While adding new announcements, we can add the following details:
- Title: This is the name of the announcement; it is a required field.
- Body: Details of our announcement; it is a required field.
- More Information URL: Any external URL that we want to use for more details—for example, your company website or your SharePoint portal page URL.
- Expiration Date: Date of announcement expiration. Once this date is over, announcements will not be visible to Dynamics 365 CE users.
By default, there is no navigation area to access announcements in Dynamics 365, but it can be added easily by customizing Dynamics 365 CE Sitemap. We will be learning how to customize Sitemap in the next chapter. We can access announcements by appending the /home/homepage/home_news.aspx URL to our Dynamics 365 CE organization URL. So, for example, I can access my announcements using the following URL:
https://himbap.crm8.dynamics.com/home/homepage/home_news.aspx
Here, himbap.crm8.dynamics.com is our Dynamics 365 CE trial organization URL.
