week, bright side is I know all of your names.” Mrs. Efner walked back to her desk.

“And how is that the bright side?” Dylan hissed.

JerRic laughed.

Dylan was JerRic's cousin. They spent the first few minutes of every class talking. Dylan was always nice to me, but I always had an impression that he had a secret.

I wish I had a close cousin like JerRic. I've been flying under the radar for so long that I felt like I was standing on an island. Somehow, JerRic had found me on my island and his family had become like friends. It was nice not to be alone.

My classmates were getting up and switching seats. I put my backpack over my shoulder. Why were they moving? I guess that's what I get for daydreaming.

“Annabeth, get over here.” JerRic motioned for me to come over to him.

Most of the time, I just defaulted in JerRic's direction, because he was in so many of my classes. We clicked. He was leaning on a desk next to Dylan.

“Jer said he offered for you to move in with him and you declined.” Dylan teased.

“Shut up.” JerRic punched his arm.

I opened my mouth and closed it. I glanced at JerRic. Those eyes were not innocent.

“Sit down.” JerRic sat and pointed to the seats on either side of him.

Dylan laughed again. “I don't see the difference. I'm still getting an assigned seat.”

“That's what you get for being younger.” JerRic leaned back in his chair.

“Not that much.” Dylan scoffed.

JerRic smirked at his cousin.

“Okay class, I hope you're happy with where you're sitting, because you're stuck there until the end of the year.” Mrs. Efner called to us.
