JAGADGURU Madhvacharya
Madhvacharya was a great religious reformer and philosopher of the thirteenth century A.D. He was the proponent of Dwaitavada (dualistic) school of bhakti philosophy. Madhvacharya is highly respected by Hindu scholars as the fourth Jagadguru in history, and is credited with upholding the essence of Bhakti in the medieval times. He is considered by many to be the third avatar of the celestial god Vayu, after Hanuman and Bheem.
EARLY YEARS
Acharya Madhva was born in the late twelfth or early thirteenth century in the South Indian temple town of Udipi, on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami. There is some debate on his exact year of birth. He was named Vasudev at birth, but was called Poornapragnya and Madhva in his later years.
