JAYADEV goswami

Jayadev Goswami was a Sanskrit poet who lived in the thirteenth century A.D. in modern day Orissa. He spent most of his life in the holy city of Jagannath Puri. He was a great devotee of Shree Radha Krishna. The contribution of Jayadev to spirituality, literature and dance, is tremendous. Every year on Sankranti, there is a big fair in the memory of Jayadev in his village, with over a hundred thousand people attending.

HIS WORKS

The greatest work of Jayadev is the “Geet Govind,” a lyrical poem that is organized into twelve chapters, and describes Lord Krishna’s intimate pastimes. It is one of the finest examples of Sanskrit poetry and has been translated into several languages of the world.
