LATER YEARS

In his later years, Mahaprabhu stopped interacting with the people. He spent his time in a small room, called “Gambhira.” All day and night, he would long to meet God, in the mood of Radharani’s longing for Shree Krishna. During this period he displayed the highest levels of Divine love, that have inspired devotees ever since.

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu ended his pastimes on the earth in 1534 A.D. It is believed that he entered the temple of Lord Jagannath, and walked into the deity, merging himself with the Lord. Thus, he did not leave his mortal remains on the earth.
