Tulsidas
Tulsidas is the famous writer of the Ramcharitmanas, the Hindi Ramayana. He also wrote several works of great religious significance. He is widely regarded as the reincarnation of the sage Valmiki.
In the Bhavishyottar Puran, Lord Shiva narrates to Parvati how Valmiki received a boon from Hanuman to enable him to sing the glories of Lord Rama in Kaliyug. It is believed that Tulsidas thus came to fulfil the prophecy.
EARLY YEARS
Tulsidas was born on the auspicious day of Shravan shukla (bright fortnight) saptami, in the middle of the sixteenth century A.D. at the time of the Mughal Emperor Akbar’s reign. He was born to a brahmin family in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh.
