Shree Ramakrishna Paramhansa was a famous saint of 19th-century India. His religious philosophy led to the formation of the Ramakrishna Mission by his chief disciple Swami Vivekananda. Many of his disciples believe he was an incarnation of God. Born in a brahmin Vaishnav family in rural Bengal, he became a priest of the Dakshineshwar Kali Temple. Though conventionally uneducated, he attracted the attention of numerous Bengali intellectuals.
EARLY YEARS
Shree Ramakrishna was born in a small village in Bengal called Kamarpukur in 1836 A.D. He was named Gadadhar by his parents, which is one of the names of Lord Vishnu. His father, Shree Kshudiram Chattopadhyaya was a very religious man, who spent a lot of time in the worship of the Lord and in the company of Saints.
