Well, yesterday was my first Christmas in France...and I don't think I will ever be able to eat again! We cooked and ate so much French food I thought it was never going to stop! I had so much fun though! My family in France invited us to their house in the South of France this year. I was very curious about how differently the French would celebrate Christmas compared with the traditions I am used to back home. It was a lot of fun to spend Christmas in France this year with my entire family. I guess that this year Pere Noel brought me everything I wished for!

Aujourd’hui, c’est une journée spéciale dans le monde entier !
Oui, en effet, qui ne connaît pas Noël !
C’est vrai que c’est une tradition religieuse à la base mais même les personnes athées, c'est-à-dire les personnes qui n’ont pas de religion fêtent Noël désormais !
C’est une occasion de se retrouver en famille, de bien manger pour le réveillon car sans un bon repas de Noël, ce jour perd évidemment tout son intérêt !
Le Réveillon de Noël, en France, on prépare un repas particulier et souvent assez coûteux car il y a souvent des plateaux de fruits de mer, du foie gras, du saumon fumé, et toutes sortes de plats plus compliqués à réaliser !
Attention à ne pas rater ce repas du réveillon car c’est un moment important !
Je ne peux même pas m’imaginer que l’on rate les plats pour ce jour particulier attendu toute l’année !
Les enfants, eux, attendent avec impatience l’arrivée du Père Noël le matin du 25 pour savoir s’ils ont bien eu ce qu’ils désiraient ! Une fois les cadeaux ouverts, on ne les revoient plus de la journée trop occupés à s’amuser avec leurs nouveaux jouets et accessoires en tous genres.
Ah, l’ouverture des cadeaux, j’adore ça et c’est l’occasion de faire des bisous à tout le monde !
C’est vraiment un jour spécial car tout le monde a le sourire et c’est très agréable. Ça donne au moins l’occasion aux français d’arrêter de râler pour quelques heures… Il faut dire qu’en plus, les français prennent en général des vacances entre Noël et le premier jour de l’an donc c’est tout le monde est détendu !
Cette année, j’espère passer un bon Noël pour moi car je vais le passer avec toute ma famille alors que l’année dernière je l’avais passé seul avec un couple d’amis. En affet mes parents étaient à l’étranger et ma sœur passait Noël dans la famille de son mari… C’était donc une fête plutôt triste…

Today is a special day throughout the entire world! Of course, who doesn't know Christmas? It may be a religious holiday, but even many atheists, by that I mean people who don't practice a religion, celebrate Christmas anyway!
It’s a time for families to get together and eat lots of good food—because without a very good holiday meal, it's definitely not the same!
In France, the Christmas Eve meal is a special meal. It can often cost quite a bit to prepare so many platters of seafood, foie gras, smoked salmon, and all kinds of complicated dishes! Don't miss this meal, because it's an important one. I could never imagine missing the special dishes reserved for this meal that we wait all year to have!
All of the children wait impatiently for the Pere Noel to arrive on the morning of the 25th to find out if they've gotten what they wished for. Once the gifts are opened, you won't see them all day because they're busy playing with all kinds of new toys and gadgets.
Ah, opening presents, I love it—and it's an occasion to give thank-you kisses to everyone!
It's such a special day, because everyone smiles and is in a good mood. It's at least a good excuse for people to stop griping for a while. I should add that most French people take time off between Christmas and New Year's Day, so everyone is more relaxed!
This year, I want to have a very good holiday because I'm going to spend it with my whole family. Last year, I just spent it with a couple of friends because my parents were overseas and my sister was celebrating with her husband's family. Therefore, it was kind of a sad holiday for me...
