THE VOTING OF 1972
The following table of voting results by state and nation is based on the compilation of the Associated Press and is used here by permission. There is still no such thing as an official national vote count in the United States; but the Associated Press table, based on official returns state by state, is the closest to accurate that I have found.
McGovern’s vote total in Alabama includes 219,108 votes on the regular Democratic ticket and 37,815 votes under the listing of the National Democratic Party of Alabama.
