38:1-30 Uncomfortable Demands This sequence of events triggered a basic moral failure: the refusal to fulfill obligations to family members. Tamar didn’t understand how God planned to bring his promises through Judah’s bloodline. But faced with injustice, Tamar risked her life to do what she thought was right, and God honored her actions. Today’s families coping with special needs are sometimes placed in complex interpersonal relationships that impose uncomfortable demands upon them. As Christians, however, we cannot claim to love God if we don’t love and care for our own families (1 Tim 5:8).
