8:22 God’s Goodness Being one of God’s children sometimes protects us from suffering, like it did for the Hebrews during some of the plagues; at other times, suffering is shared by all—the righteous and the unrighteous alike. Similarly, God often lavishes his blessings upon all, regardless of the status of their relationship with him (Matt 5:45). In every situation, God’s goodness remains intact. His love is not diminished by suffering, and blessing is not evidence that God loves a person more than those who suffer.
