20:7 Representing God Well We belong to God and he belongs to us. When God commands his people to not misuse his name, he’s asking us not to claim his name and then live contrary to his character. As the subsequent commands throughout the Law make clear, obeying this injunction takes shape in many different forms, including the ways in which we interact with those around us—especially the weak and the vulnerable.
20:24 Intimacy with God Experiencing the Lord’s presence is rooted in worship of him. When we come to him in a spirit of worship, honoring him with sincere sacrifices of praise offered on the altars of our hearts, he “will come to [us] and bless [us],” just as he did for the people of Israel when they offered animal sacrifices on altars of earth and stone.
