4:1 Intimacy with God “The LORD said to Moses” is repeated 35 times in Leviticus. The phrase shows that Moses received God’s words directly. God interacted with Moses personally, and he still interacts with people personally today! We may not hear his audible voice, but as we spend time in his Word, we come to hear and know him in a personal way.
4:1-14 Avoiding God’s Anger Animal sacrifice took away God’s wrath from the person and the nation. But sheep and goats were not an ultimate solution for sin; only Jesus’ blood could pay the price for sin and make us right with God (Rom 3:25; Heb 7:27-28; 1 Jn 2:2; 4:10). Doing all the right things doesn’t save us. Only faith in God brings salvation. This was true for the Israelites in Moses’ day, and it is true for us today (Rom 4:1-3; Gal 3:5-9).
