3:9-10 Overcoming Obstacles The Israelites had very concrete obstacles to overcome in order to see the fulfillment of God’s promises. Our obstacles may not be kings and armies, but they may be just as difficult to overcome. Just as he was with the Israelites, God promises to be with us and lead us to precisely the place he wants us to be, regardless of the challenges we face along the way.
3:22 Victory over Suffering As the new leader of God’s people, Joshua was told not to fear because God would fight for him. God still fights for his beloved children. He fights for us in ways we may not see or understand, but he is always working on our behalf. We can trust him to bring us the ultimate victory in the battles we face in our suffering, whether in this life or the next.
3:23-26 When God Says No Sometimes God says “no” to our fervent requests. This is hard for us, as it was for Moses. God’s refusal can seem to be a lack of compassion, but the truth is that God’s love and compassion have no bounds! God knows what is best. His plan is always good for us and for those who are with us and who follow us.
