17:14-20 Authority God intended his people to follow him as their king. But he knew that the Israelites would eventually want a human king like other nations. The rules God gave for kings showed that he expected them to honor him and serve justly. Power tends to corrupt human hearts. Pray for those in power, that they would be people who know and follow God and that God will guide and direct them.
