15:22-23 Complete Submission In the face of Saul’s lies, Samuel underscores the importance of obedient submission to the Lord. Our outward acts of sacrifice do not impress him; instead, the “eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chr 16:9). Submission is not dependent on external circumstances; indeed, it is often in the most difficult times of inner suffering and uncertainty that our commitment to the Lord (or lack thereof) is most clearly evident.
