Suffering has the potential to direct us inward—to focus on our own pain and sorrow to the point of ignoring everyone else. “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven” (Eccl 3:1)—including grief. But expressions of grief and sorrow must always be tempered with godly wisdom.

19:26-27 Vulnerability Mephibosheth’s disability made him dependent on Ziba to tell him the truth and accurately represent him to others. Apparently, Ziba did neither. Because people with disabilities are often more susceptible to being taken advantage of in various ways, the Lord places a high premium on their protection and well-being (Lev 19:14).
