12:28-30 The Biggest Sin The great sin of Jeroboam, king of Israel, was inciting God’s people to worship other gods. This became a benchmark of unfaithfulness for later kings, who consistently failed to remove the false gods Jeroboam set up for Israel. There was nothing complicated about the biggest problem during these centuries. For each king the test was the same—did he follow God completely and confront evil, or did he not? We must not be tempted to obscure God’s holiness or diminish his absolute supremacy over us.
