20:12 When You Feel Overwhelmed Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah were in a terrible position. They were being attacked by an overwhelming enemy and felt powerless to defend themselves. At times, we experience similar situations; we feel that nothing can be done from a human perspective. Jehoshaphat cried out, “We do not know what to do”; but actually he did—he looked to God for hope and mercy. His prayer encouraged his people. Our prayers can do the same.

20:37 Be Cautious in Friendship Throughout the Scriptures, we see that “bad company corrupts good character” (1 Cor 15:33). Because Jehoshaphat allied himself with an evil king, his plans ended in disaster. As Christians, we can avoid many misfortunes by choosing friends who can give godly advice (Prov 12:26).
