7:3 Chronic Struggles Job did not suffer for a short period of time. He was “assigned months of futility, long and weary nights of misery.” Chronic illness and disability are not evidence of God’s lack of involvement in our lives. Instead, suffering can often serve to deepen our relationship with the Lord, who suffered in our place and stands alongside us in the midst of our suffering.

7:17-21 Not Forsaken Job began to point directly to God as a cruel master who was harassing him. When we are suffering, it can often feel like God is silent and unconcerned, but that isn’t how Job felt at this time. Job felt like God was actively causing his pain and suffering. The truth, however we might feel, is that God is compassionate and loving. He did not forsake Job, and he will not forsake us.
